Teach your children well....

I think this is so adorable!   How many of you saw the Beatles live in the Ed Sullivan show in 1964?  Were you mesmerized by them like this young lady?   My mom recalls seeing them on Sullivan.  She was 12 (almost 13) years old and was very excited.   It was after this show that she officially declared her eternal love for Ringo Starr.  Her older sister, who was always an Elvis fan, claimed Paul.  However, I do not consider my aunt to be a Beatles fan today because one time she went with us to a Beatlefest for one day and was bored!   Anyhow.....back to my mom.    Her Dad complained the whole time about watching the "long hairs" on television that night.    Anyone else have memories of the Sullivan show with the Beatles?

  1. I was in my crib while my whole family watched, so I have no real memory of the Sullivan Show. But, to this day, if you ask my dad to name a Beatles song, the only one he knows is I Want to Hold Your Hand because he says that was burned into his brain at that time. (I think it's cute of my dad...)

  2. I was 8 and I remember watching with my brother and parents. I heard everyone else in the audience screaming so I screamed for a couple of seconds too. I remember seeing something written when they showed John "Sorry girls, he's married" - (was that at the first Ed Sullivan showing?). Then I stopped screaming because I thought it was silly to scream and just was mesmerized by John and Paul...from then on.

  4. What an adorable little girl and an adorable pic! I was slightly older than this girl but I was in bed already so I missed the show. I remember my mom discussing it the next day though! She was laughing about their long hair. However my brother purchased Meet the Beatles shortly after the show aired, and he played it night and day. So I was heavily exposed to them from the start. Probably explains why I eventually became such an obsessive fan. And yes I remember being mesmerized by them and their music, from the minute I first heard them. My reaction was exactly like this little girl's.

  5. Oh, yes! I was a bit sick of hearing about The Beatles, and watched that night determined to hate them. Well, so much for that! They worked their magic on me immediately! Afterwards, I just kept saying, "Did you see the one on the left?" The start of my lifelong love of the Beatles, and Paul as my "fave."
