Anyone know anything about this meeting George apparently had in December of 1983 at a hotel in Dorchester?

  4. According to Keith Badman's book "The Beatles After The Break-Up 1970-2000", that meeting took place on December 1, 1983. All three ex-Beatles and Yoko left the meeting separately.

  5. There's a new Mark Lewisohn interview just come out where he explains this meeting was to confront Paul as the others had found out that Paul negotiated a better deal for royalties on Beatles songs then they got back in 1975. Not a happy meeting by Lewisohn's account!

    1. This meeting started the legal dispute that kept Paul from sharing the stage with the others when the Beatles were inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame (1988), and eventually got settled in the early '90s, allowing us to get BBC, Anthology, etc.

  6. The Dorchester Hotel is a luxury hotel in London favoured by the Beatles. It overlooks Hyde Park and retains its original 1930s style.

  8. Just heard Mark Lewisohn explain what they were talking about. Their EMI contract had expired in 1976, so they'd each had the option to sign with other labels - George and Ringo signed with new labels, but Paul stayed with EMI, but as part of the new deal, Paul negotiated an increased royalty payment for Beatles' record sales - so he was getting more than the others.
