I wrote John, sometime between 1975 and 1978, when I was little. I seem to remember there was an article in Newsday (Long Island newspaper) with addresses of celebrities you could write to and I was blown away that John was on it....and that he lived here in New York!!! I don't remember what I wrote but I remember it was at least two pages, front and back. In child's scrawl.
In the Playboy interview, he talked about getting letters from kids asking if the Beatles will ever get back together and how he thought it was sick! "Dig the Beatles, but go listen to Queen or whatever's going on...."....to this day, even though I'm sure I'm wrong, I somehow feel like it was my letter that he was referring to!! (what John didn't know is I was super into all kinds of music when I was little, thanks to the wide scope of the Beatles' catalog! So there, JL!).
