The other person in the foreground with Keith Moon is Dougal Butler. Dougal Butler was Keith Moon's version of Mal Evans, he was always with him. He later wrote at least one book about his time with Keith, called "Full Moon" and no book or documentary about the Who or Keith Moon is without a Dougal interview.
Good question, might have been, May definitely talks about this day in her book, sitting by the pool and watching Paul's kids swim. I know in the book, "Full Moon", Dougal Butler takes credit for taking the Polaroid of Paul and John (and Moon) sitting together, the one that was the only known picture from this day for the longest time!
I like this picture because it shows Paul and John actually talking and engaged!
Wow! That's an amazing photo. I've had to come back to see it several times and can't help but wonder what they were discussing. I think the other person in the photo might be Harry Nilsson.
Sara, thanks for maintaining this wonderful site. It’s one of my favorite places to relax after a busy day/night.
dear cara, tight jeans noticed... i loooove the photo of him standing by a motorcycle wearing may's bell bottom jeans with the embroidered flowers at the bottom! xx
Lizzie: That is one of my all time favorite John photos as well. I recall seeing it in May's first book in black and white and loving it and now it is available in color!
Cara: I noticed John in the tight jeans before I even saw Keith Moon. LOL!
Wow! Amazing find, Sara! Keith Moon and... ? Taken at John's beach house in Santa Monica, I assume. Thank you, thank you for sharing this!!

DeleteFantastic picture.
Thanks for the reply, Anon! Now I wonder if May took the photo and where it came from.
DeleteBtw, Sara, I'm sure as a fellow John girl you must have noticed those awesome tight jeans our boy was wearing that day! ;-)
