The Greeting Committee

These photos of John wearing "The Greeting Committee" t-shirt has always been some of my favorites. Here is the story behind the photo, told by Greeting Committee member, Marie Lacey.

My friends Robin, Goldie, Barbara an I used to go see John every day while he was recording at Record Plant (1973) and he gave us the nickname, "The Greeting Committee". We made up a Tee-shirt for him and he surprised us by wearing it the very next day! I set up the picture (asked John to open his jacket so we could read the writing) and he asked me "how", so I opened up his jacket for him (yes I did!!). And Robin took this picture!

  2. The world is indeed frantically in short supply of leaders in most our own walks associated with lifestyle. Thanks intended for exhibiting which you have the ability to be one when you're an incredible Dad and mom, crossword puzzles and raising kids to try out appreciate and regard. Providing and custom those that have some sort of grin along with a pleasant term.

  3. He always seemed to be in a good mood during this time in his life....he used to joke with everyone in the studio...we all thought that his time with May Pang was very good for him, he smiled a lot more with her around

  4. Isn't that the same Robin Titone and Goldie Friede that used to live in Brooklyn and wrote a book together about The Beatles?? Beatles A to Z I think the title might be....Wasn't Marie Lacey the fan that 'came in through the bathroom window'??? Just wondering....

    1. If they're lesbians, it's for them to bring it up, not some slimy mealy-mouthed internet troll, hiding behind "Anonymous". Why don't you state your name, so that Robin and Goldie knows what priggish lowlife is babbling about them?

Any REAL Beatle fan, having been acquainted with the personal anguish that was Brian Epstein's sex life, would have a little more sensitivity regarding outing closeted homosexuals. But then again, "Anonymous" belongs to that percentage of Beatle fans that are just obnoxious and intolerable, the exact type of fan who shot Lennon. What the heck does Goldie and Robin (possibly) being lesbians, closeted or otherwise, have to do with anything, least of all these pictures?

What were you doing, Anonymous, hanging outside the Dakota, snickering and gossiping about them?

    2. I agree---someone's sexual orientation has nothing at all to do with being a Beatles fan or not. It is none of my (our your anonymous) business if they are lesbians, bi-sexual, straight or whatever!
