Yellow Sub sandwich

So it is said that the photo of the guys holding a huge sub sandwich was taken in 1964 from when the Beatles played in New Jersey. The first issue I have with that date is that George looks like he has one of those mustaches that were drawn in by Beatle Book Monthly in late 1966. Click on the photo and look at the large version, because really....it looks drawn on. Maybe it is. And my 2nd thing is that Ringo is wearing a vest from 1967. Maybe he originally got it in 1964, but as you see here, he wore it in 1967. I don't know where I am going with this thought, but I guess I just question the date of New Jersey 1964.

  1. Don`t think there is a paint-on job here - either badly or freshly (with a bit irritated skin) shaved - check Paul and Ringo, also "shades" of mustache.
As for Ringo`s vest - hmmm... almost the same but is it really? There are two sections with "dots" but the upper one in the older one seems not to feature them.

  2. The photo was definitely taken in 1964. I guess Ringo had that vest in 1964.

  3. Ken, I didn't think George's stach was a paint on one, but it just reminded me of the photos from BBM. And I think that is the same vest on Ringo. Ringo was well known for hanging on to his clothes and wearing them years later. I never totally doubted it was 1964 because John and Paul (and Ringo) looked like it, but something about this photo just seems strange to me. I don't know.

  4. They played Atlantic City on August 30, 1964, and that is definitely when this photo is from. The sub was a gift from White House Subs, a famous shop in Atlantic City which opened in the 1940's, and is still in business!
