You're right ... to have been there. This was Paul & Linda in their infancy as a couple. Astated, no one knew who Linda was, let alone her place in Paul's life. There was so much more to come in Paul's professional & personal lives. One thing that remained constant was Linda's abiding love & belief in Paul. She was a great comfort to him during his lowest moments and loved him unconditionally.
This was, as Linda herself later described it, she and Paul's very first "dirty weekend" together ;-)
But she was far from unknown, at least in musical circles: She'd been photographing some very high-profile entertainers for two years already at this point.
You are right Gary, Linda was known among certain groups, but she was unknown among the typical Paul-crazed Beatle fan who was trying to see him in L.A. that weekend.
The only source I have for the "dirty weekend" story is "The Love You Make" I think. Something about Paul entertaining two models (one black, one white) but as soon as Linda came they both were sent away. Something like that.
