Some fans passed autograph books onto people like Mal or Neil to be sent backstage for the Beatles to sign them. Sometimes they came back signed by Mal or Neil with the Beatles names. And sometimes they actually were signed by the Beatles as seen here in this photo taken backstage during the Fall 1963 UK tour.
