The Apple Jacket?

I think that the people at Beatlesuits.com must read this blog. Because I talk so much about the Beatles jackets, especially my favorite one Paul's green and blue "Joker jacket" that he wore in 1967-68. They must read this blog because I was really surprised last weekend to see the "Joker Jacket" being made as a reproduction jacket and for sale at Beatlefest labeled as 'the Apple jacket." I had to ask them about this. The Apple jacket? They said they named it the Apple jacket because it is green and Paul wore it when announcing the formation of Apple in New York. I asked them if they realized that the Apple Scruffs themselves (although I knew they weren't given that name yet...most people don't know the history of the Scruffs) gave the jacket the name "Joker Jacket." He said that he knew that, but he liked Apple jacket better. Ok. Whatever. As far as I am concerned, whenever I see a photo of it, I think "Joker." So that is what I will refer to it as.

So I guess now Paul can order a copy of the jacket that was stolen from him! Good news for Paul! Does anyone know for sure when the jacket was stolen? Was it when "she came in through the bathroom window?" Or some other random time?

If anyone is interested in ordering the jacket for themselves, here is the link.

  2. Yes, I have read on several accounts that the jacket was stolen in 1969. And I believe that because after late 1968, you never see him in the jacket again. Here is what I originally wrote about the jacket being stolen and a mistaken jacket.
