Scam warning for bloggers

I first want to say that I am not someone that typically gets suckered by online scams. The fact that I actually fell for this one still baffles me. I wanted to let all of you know about this, especially those of you who have blogs of your own.

First of all, it does not matter what the topic of your blog is or if you use blogger or another blog account. From what I have read, this scam has hit blogs about crocheting, day care for children, support for parents who have special needs children, book reviews, the life of a teen, etc etc etc.

On Wednesday I received an email from

Re: meet the beatles for real: you make me so very happy

The email said: Hello,

Would you be available to discuss this on the phone ?

kathy

I thought this was one of a few things. My first thought was that Kathy was the girl in the Ringo photo and she was upset that I posted her photo and wanted to talk to me on my telephone about it. Then I thought that maybe she was upset to read that her photo was sold on ebay and wanted me to tell her the seller's id. Or maybe....just maybe she was the girl in the photo and was so happy to see it online that she wanted to talk to me about how she met Ringo. Asking for my phone number didn't seem too strange. This day in age, cell phones make long distance calling so much cheaper than they used to be. So I did the stupid thing of emailing her my phone number.

Well I didn't hear back from her at all. I got curious and I googled her name. I still thought she was a Beatles fan, but I quickly learned that someone has been using that name to spam bloggers. Then I got another two more emails from her today that both said,
Hello,

Hey didn't hear back from you, are you still in business ?

kathy

Obviously this is some sort of a scam. I am not too sure what the scam is, but I am ignoring all emails from "her" and wanted to spread the word for all of you to also do so if you receive any emails.
