During the "Broadstreet" years, Paul McCartney was often seen wearing a leather jacket. But obviously the mega-veggie Paul that you and I adore would not been ever seen wearing REAL leather. So obviously this isn't a real leather jacket that Paul was wearing during that time. Still it amazes me how often you saw him wearing this jacket. Paul seems to be someone that gets hooked on one article of clothing and wears for a long time.
I don't want to tease you but how do you know that it's not REAL leather?
ReplyDeleteI really don't have a clue. I would just assume with Paul speaking out so much against the use of animals for clothing, he wouldn't wear real leather, even in the 1980's.
ReplyDeleteIn the 70s he had a big leather jacket made of sheepskin, he is wearing it in the Maybe I'm Amazed video.
DeleteIt's probably real leather because the style of the jacket is of a WWII flight jacket used to keep American and British pilots warm, synthetic leather wasn't really a thing in the 1940s.
well thanks for taking a time to answer me.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of things paul doesn't do anymore he used to do them in the past.
even in interviews he has said that he used to eat a lot of meat before he met linda so I dare to think there waa a time when he wore real leather.
Paul didn't become a vegetarian until after he married Linda. So before 1970 or so, yeah you'd see Paul eating meat and wearing real leather. After 1970, he's pretty die-hard about those things. When he tours, he has a chef travel with him who makes special vegetarian dishes not just for him but for the ENTIRE crew!
ReplyDeleteThey didn't fully commit to their veggie diet until the early 80s.
