Thanks for the auction site info! I copied the larger versions of the photos and touched them up - they're posted at the new Yahoo! group: Cynthia Powell Lennon. There was another auction on the same site with two more Cynthia photos - one in Miami 1964 (Paul is having a towel fight!) and - one of Cyn & John in Tahiti May 1964. I believe the three photos you have posted here were taken in Miami 1964 - my best guess. Thanks again!
I'm 99.9% sure these photos were taken on the Trinidad and Tobago holiday of January 1966. Ringo arrived back in London with the beard thet he grew when he went off on holiday with Mo, Cyn and John shaved off and it loos in a trpical setting so...

I also would have said Trinidad/Tobago but I cannot check right now - there was a thread on the old DBD-forum about this holiday where I tried to order all known photos of this holiday in location-groups but unfortunatly it got wiped away when the forum moved to BZ (and back). All I recall was that it seems to have contained none of this day`s photos as the clothes don`t seem to match. Not sure about the chairs either - cannot quite recall them looking this this.
Have you seen photos of Ringo arriving back in London AFTER the Trinidad-Tobago holiday? I've never seen any - just several of the Lennon's and Starkey's departing London en route to Trinidad. Ringo had his beard leaving on the holiday and got lots of press about it. I recently scanned all the photos I've ever seen from the Trinidad-Tobago holiday (64 total) and posted them in the Cynthia Powell Lennon group at Yahoo! and Ringo has a beard in every one of his photos. He has no beard in the new photos above and he's wearing the terry cloth beach cover-up in the one photo that they all wore in Miami in Feb.'64 - complete with the emblem on the pocket that matches exactly. I see no difference in their hair lengths from any of the other Miami photos.
After doing some more checking I do see a major problem with the photos being from Miami in Feb. '64 (I recant my previous speculation!) - Ringo's sideburns are definitely too long to have been the early part of 1964. The only way the photos might be from Trinidad-Tobago is if Ringo shaved his beard and moustache before the end of the holiday? I haven't seen any other photos of him clean shaven in Tobago though, or of him arriving back in London after the holiday to be able to confirm it. Another little clue is in the photo of just Cyn & John - when I lightened up the photo there is a bamboo fence in the background on the left - just like the type Maureen was standing in front of in a color photo from Mark Hayward's book, The Beatles Unseen, which was also a private snapshot that was sold at auction. So, Miami '64 is out - the Bahamas in Feb. '65 are out since Cynthia was not there - and Trinidad-Tobago is only possible if Ringo did shave before the end of the holiday. Does anyone know for sure?
I just lightened the John and Ringo photo and it is obvious that Ringo must have shaved his beard. Tan lines clearly show on his face - pale where the beard was and tanned above! He must've returned to London clean shaven and I now feel 99.9% sure the photo set was taken during the Trinidad-Tobago holiday in Jan. 1966. Problem solved - probably!
Great job! I was hoping for the 1966 trip! But the lack of beard threw of me off too. Sorry I didn't put more info for the Cynthia Lennon group (I am Starshyne9 on there btw).
Hi anonymous - brill detective work - and I'm pretty sure I have in my archives a clipping from one of the London daily papers of the two couples arriving back at London Airport - and (working from memory) Ringo has no beard.
sorry i didn't see it, beatle55, just answered you last night. my boss (a musician) is doing a new cd and we've been at the recording studio until very late every night - fantastic music! love to everyone and have a great weekend.
