Many Beatles fans have a favorite "Beatles girl" that they just adore. I can't really say that I have a favorite girl because I like them all for different reasons. But if someone put a gun to my head and made me choose a favorite I think I would go with Cynthia Lennon. I have read both of her books and have felt that I have a lot in common with Cynthia. We are alike and I think that if I were around England in the 60's we could have been great friends. Unfortunately my life continued to be similar to Cyn's because my marriage ended very much in the same way hers did. The only difference is that my former husband was not a Beatle and it wasn't in all of the newspapers and magazines. But I know the pain that she felt when she caught Yoko and John together because it has happened to me. So maybe that is why I feel like Cyn is really cool. She is on the top of my "Beatle people I would love to meet" list.

Hi Sara! My dear friend Denise Werneck , from Rio like me, took this photo. We went to England together (not on the same day but we planned the trip and stayed together once I arrived). I've always had this negative and she gave me all her photos to publish in my book. The problem is, my copy (and the negative) have a scratch on Cyn's face. I wish I knew where they found this copy without the scratch so I could ask for a copy in 300 dpi! We traded lots of photos with British, German and American friends in the 60's, that's why some of mine have surfaced over the years. And Sara, I just wrote a comment in my facebook page. I know what Cyn and Julian went through and what you went through, because it happened to me too.

ReplyDeleteCynthia is one of the classiest women to ever grace this planet. As much as I admire John, he really didn't treat her right while they were married and surely not when he met his stalker, Yoko. Thankfully for John, Cynthia didn't haul off and smack the crap out of him and Yoko when Cynthia found them two together! How dare John treat Cynthia with absolutely no regard whatsoever! No excuses, not even acid...he just treated her like shit...No doubt that Julian had many years of therapy to get over what his own father said and did to Julian and his mum! Tsk tsk so not nice...
ReplyDeleteAgree - Cynthia is a classy woman. John was just a louse to her & Julian. No comment about Yoko as there was one in my life. Sara and Lizzie ; went through the situation you did too which took a very long time for me to heal and be able to trust again.
