Terry Doran--oops it is Alan

Terry Doran is a fellow who was sort of in the background in the Beatles story for a long time. He was friends with Brian Epstein and later became George's personal assistant. You can see him in this photo with George. He has been said to have been a difficult man to deal with and he seemed to dislike Beatle fans.

  3. Terry Doran actually ran Apple publishing followed by Apple records in its first carnation.

Google the band Focal Point who were the first band signed to Apple and there is some info on him.
He was actually very well liked in music circles of the 60s.

  5. Hi Steve! I got your email today but hadn't responded yet. I do not have much information on Terry, but maybe someone here does. I do know that he was still working for George in 1979 at Friar Park.

  8. why would anyone who knows Terry give his contact details to any of you freaks? If any of you were his friends then you would know how to reach him

  9. Some people simply like freaks, so maybe that`s why? ;-)

    1. I worked with terry in Warrington and was in touch with him a little when he went to live and work in London. Just so glad to hear he is alive and well. Great guy - we had lots of laughs - he was a lot of fun. Good memories for me.

    2. So wonderful to hear Terry is with us. I to worked with him during the Dark Horse days, while I was a College Rep in Denver for A&M through to the A&M Lot in LA where Terry introduced me around. This was when Olivia worked at the studios. Sadly I lost touch in the early 198-0s' and have a poster I took from his wall to have framed for him,. I have it still and would like to get it to him,. Any assistance would be appreciated!

  12. Terry is a wonderful man and was NEVER hard to deal with. He is retired and living in GB (where, I will not tell). One of the best people I have known. One of the Beatles trusted friends and one who will never write a book.

  13. This is wonderful to see. I too worked with Terry while he ran dark Horse for George. I was with A&M Records, from College in Denver through the A&M Lot in the late 70's. Terry is a good friend and sadly I lost touch in the 1980's.
So happy to hear he is alive and hopefully well. I have a poster I took from his wall to have framed for him, and still have it. Would like to get it back to him somehow, and rekindle many wonderful stories form those days.

  16. I saw Terry today. He is very weak in Hospital. I spoke to his Sister Pat today as well. I would ask that you join me in a little prayer of appreciation for such an engaging and selfless Man who I saw help so many people.

Terry is an inspiration to me and helped me when I was low. He is alive but sadly not well. He is an amazing Man and I held his hand today and told him I loved him; he is such a special friend to me.

Terry didn't write a book. I naively told him he should a few years ago - but now realise that he would never want to upset anyone and prefers to respect everyone's privacy and right to live their life as they choose. He just isn't that sort of Man to "dine out" on his past. He is very selfless.

He is such a peaceful Man and I pray he doesn't go but fear that if he does, I will miss him so much.

    1. Terry's my uncle and I don't think as his friend he would expect you to be posting his private matters online and I or the rest of the family don't either. I know who visited him on Monday and who spoke to my aunty Pat. Very disappointed !!!!

  17. Watching the recent repeat of the Cilla series somehow made me Google Terry's name and I came across this thread. I am so sad to hear he is presumably, gravely ill. I didn't really know him personally, but spoke with him almost daily during his time at Saab Piccadilly and every conversation was a laugh, he seemed to know how to handle important issues in a non-serous way, and during all that time I had not known his association with The Beatles etc. Truly an example of a great man, and if his memory still serves him well, please tell him Ben Berry is thinking of and remembering him with fondness and respect

  18. seems from these posts that Terry was respected by many after Beatle days & am glad he chose not to disclose intimate info on George with a book that the Sun would have used as trash

  22. I got to know Terry in 1980 in Henley-on-Thames when he was still with George. He was a wonderful charismatic guy who I've never forgotten. The comments in this blog are a testament to his character and the positive affect he had on many people. After he left George he came to stay with me for a short while and he got to know my sister, Michelle and her then boyfriend Mike. He may not remember me now but please tell him Mark sends his love and prayers.

  23. Having just come cross the Brydor record books of all the cars Terry sold to the Beatles and many more besides I'd be very interested to talk to anyone who knew Terry well as I'm writing a book about it.Did he work from 3 Savile Row in the mid to late 60s?

  24. Seen around No.3 68 onwards. No office there, but people would come and go
and appear to be part of Apple. Terry was very involved with George, so was there quite a lot of the time.
