Regardless where you personally stand on Yoko Ono, you have to feel badly for her. Her only daughter (and for many years her only child ) was missing from her for a very long time. Yoko was a mother who did not know where her child was. She missed out on much of Kyoko's growing up and becoming a woman. That had to have really hurt Yoko. I found this photo on ebay recently and really liked seeing Yoko and her daughter together.
What a lovely photo, Sara! As a mother and grandmother (daughter, 38 and granddaughter, 17), I can't begin to tell you how I feel for Yoko losing her child like that. It would drive me totally crazy not knowing where my child was - she only saw Kyoko again as an adult. I remember Kyoko very well from when she came to the Apple offices. We used to play with her. I had a lovely crochet skirt made for her and she wore it. She was a very smart child and quite outgoing, unlike Julian, who was shy. There's been an awful lot of pain in Yoko's life. I hope I can be as vibrant as she is at 77!
ReplyDeleteI think Tony Cox was very smart for taking off with her. Yoko and John were both freaks and doing heroin at that time. Tony Cox said he was in fear of the lifestyle Yoko and John were living, not to mention Tony said John was taking baths with the little girl. I would take my daughter and run far from those two freaks.
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm about 8 years late but when Tony whisked Kyoko away and joined a cult, Yoko had won permanent custody in 1971 in the US Virgins Islands court. Yoko and John had gone cold turkey off heroin in 1969. Kyoko as a child was taught that Yoko and John were drug guzzlers with connections to the occult, mirroring the teachings in The Walk. They weren't.
