  4. Hmmm. I wonder what diabolic theories iamaphoney might construct from this image? It is an amazing, curious photograph.

  5. hi montagu square! for someone like me, who used to hang around paul´s house and emi studios on a daily basis at the time, this is a fairly normal photo. many days, john went to paul´s house in the afternoon and left from there to go to the studios later on. that day paul drove his mini cooper to the studios and john was with him.

  6. Hello Lizzie. A bit of a silly comment of mine for such an ordinary, everyday event as recorded in this photo, I have to admit. I love that John and Paul had this order to their lives in this period, I love that you and your friends took such wonderful photographs to document it all, and I do so love that we are in the privileged position to hear your first-hand reminiscences of the time. I look forward to them everyday. But, but, if I allow myself to get carried away...there is a Beatle-Mini (I think?), and in it we see the rhythm guitarist with his white outfit and his thousand-yard stare, and the bass player with the word 'hurts' written coincidentally, but prominently, above his head. Details that, with all that we know added to the passing of time, make the snapshot odd, somehow. And eerily beautiful. Most importantly, I realise, here is yet another fabulously atmospheric photographic record of the two of them together as they prepare the magic and beauty of Sgt. Pepper. We are very lucky to get the memories and thoughts of someone who was really there.

  7. hi again montagu square (it´s sort of strange to communicate with a place..)your comment was not silly at all, it´s just a little complicated for me. my best friend took a photo of a moment when we were seeing them together, like almost every day on those fab 1967 times. most of our photos are from that year, and most of john and paul. i don´t see anything different in their faces, especially since probably a minute later they could be talking to us and smiling (i would have to check my diary for that night). for us, the "regulars" (there were no apple scruffs yet), seeing them together was very normal, as strange as that might sound in 2010, given the gigantic proportions of their fame. regards from a glorious sunny afternoon in rio de janeiro!

  9. there are very few photos of john and paul together taken by fans. i had one, a slide, but i was stupid enough to lend it to a friend back in the 70's (i had no copies or prints of it) and he never gave it back...
