Look what I found on ebay....

I found this photo tonight on ebay. According to the seller, it was taken by our own Lizzie! What I do not like about the auction is that they are trying to sell this photo of John for $150!!! That is just outrageous if you ask me! And what is even worse is that Lizze does not even get to enjoy any of that money from the sale of her photo, yet the seller is using her name to advertise what he/she considers "The holy Grail of Lennon photos." Here is the seller's discription of the photograph:

An outstanding photo from 1967 of John outside EMI (Abbey Road) during the Sgt. Pepper Sessions by Lizzie Bravo, one of the original Apple Scruffs. Lizzie is one of the two girls who got to sing backing vocals on "Across the Universe"... This is from her original negative and was circulated amongst the fans just after the break up of the Beatles. i have just the one obviously so if you are a serious John fan this is for you - the Holy Grail of photos.

Beautiful large format 6 3/4" x just over 4 3/4 " and in very good conditon with just the surface wear you would associated with a photo of this age, shown low res and with writing across to discourage copying - and has no writing in real life. Printed on old, old Kodak paper.

Postage UK £5 Special Delivery, Europe £9, US £10 for international signed for and tracked/insured service.

Now that I say what I don't like about the photo, let me say what I do like about it. It is a photograph of John Lennon in 1967! Swoon!!! He looks so gorgeous here, doesn't he??? I love the clothes. Lizzie will your photos in your book be in color or black and white. I know color photos in books are very expensive, but the color really adds to the feel of the Beatles clothing from that era.

  1. dear sara, unfortunately, several people have used my name to make money. they know that i only have original things, like autographs and photos, and they take advantage of the fact, since there are sooo many fakes out there. yes, i (and many of my friends) was naive enough to trade and sell my photos at one time, which i now obviously regret. most of the photos in my book are color. i only took a handful of black and white (also gorgeous, i might add...). there are at least 2 others from that moment. i have to say john was rather stoned that night...

  2. what happened when i decided to sell some of my autographs years ago is that people would approach me saying they were fans, one even asked me to pay in 2 installments, and the minute i agreed they turned around and advertised the item online and sold it using my name, my photo and one particular person even has my signature up on his website, and of course charge much more than they paid me. there is nothing i can do.

  4. sorry, i would have to go back to my tons of photos to find out the date and i am working right now. i have no idea of when my book is coming out. i am publishing it myself and it's not ready yet. i have revised the writing 3 times already but still want to correct it some more. as for the person selling the above photo, i wrote her and she was quite upset with my message. she seems to be a nice person and a huge george fan. i guess i was rather upset when i wrote her. i have apologized.

  5. I can't wait for your book, Lizzie :D
I've wanted someone to make a good book of 1967 photos for a while, fan photos especially. There are 2 I know of, but I'm really hoping for something a bit more John-centric.... (hint hint?)

  7. Hi Lizzie, My heart hurts when I read about some of these nasties that have happened over the years regarding your pics! GRRR! As I said in an earlier comment, after reading what you said happened with the Trax box, I vowed to now not order it & instead wait for the real thing of yours! I can't wait for your book too! I luv the photos I've seen and I especially adore hearing about your experiences and the friends you made. I hope it winds up being a BIG thick book full of your stories and chock full of your pics. All the best Lizzie!

  8. Hi, we all score the net and nick and share photo's on our blogs, i have no prob's with people doing this from mine, share the joy i say .. 'but' when people take those photo's and print them and sell them on ebay that sucks big time, it's not in the spirit of sharing the joy, i shamed them on my blog and it seems to have eased a little, obviously not 'real' fans as true Beatle fans could never be that crass.

  9. i totally agree, tammy! we all used to trade and sell copies of our photos in the 60's and later, not realizing at the time how valuable they were/are. i am so "good" at business it once dawned on me i was charging less than i was paying to print them - no wonder i'm not on wall street! i wisened up and much later sold a batch to some collector friends for a better price.
