The 1967 Pepper Sessions

It is strange how I get some of the fan photos I have obtained. Let's see if you can follow this one. A couple of weeks ago someone who is a friend of mine on facebook had a friend who posted photos of his Beatles collection. Even though I didn't know this guy, I clicked on his Beatles collection photos and looked at them. One of the item in his collection was an Beatleg LP called "The 1967 Pepper Sessions." From his small facebook photo, it looked like the cover had fan photos that I didn't have on it along with a few that I did have. So...I went to the bootlegzone to see if I could find more about the album. Well....they had the cover in a high quality large photo, so I took that photo and then cropped the Beatles fan photos that I didn't have out it. I also posted the two photos in their complete version that I already had, the one of John in the stripped pants is one of Lizzie's photos (I believe she took the photo...but it is one of my top 5 favorite John photos of all times).

Do any of you have this album?? It supposedly comes with a large booklet. Can someone check out that booklet for me and see if there are any more fan photos inside??

  1. sara, this box was the source of much pain for me. paul wane from tracks, who i've known since the 80's - met at beatlefest i believe in 1981 - bought copies of my photos. he asked me if i would authorize them to be used in this project. i DENIED. i have all his faxes and my replies. the people went ahead and used them anyway. i never signed an authorization nor received any payment. they even refused to give me ONE copy of the box. i had to buy it. photos 2, 3 and 4 were taken by me and 5 was taken by my best friend denise, also brazilian. the top one where paul is with my friend carole and the bottom one were taken by my friend lynda. why did people buy that box? only for the unpublished photos. some of mine were blown-up the size of an lp cover. it's a horrible feeling.

  2. Wow Lizzie, I am really sorry to hear that your photos were used with your permission AND you didn't even get a free copy of the project! That is so awful! If you want me to remove this post, I totally will and just keep the photos in my private collection.

I like that photo of Paul with your friend, Carole. But the John ones are my favorite.

  3. no problem with your post, sara. it's the people in the company that made that box that i dislike. and you wrote the photos were used with my permission, but they were used WITHOUT my permission. i'm glad you like my john photos. i have several more from those days and many more from other days. just wait for my book! have a great day.

  7. Hey Lizzie! I don`t get it - Paul Wane of Tracks was involved in the making of a booklet for a BEATLEG and even (well...) asked for your permission to use the photos, THEN went ahead and used them without. Why did he ask you for it in the first place at all then? That doesn`t quite fit together. I mean, Beatlegs are usually made hush-hush and with not permissions asked.
Not that I`m doubting your info but this is very strange.
Maybe these were actually TWO "projects", that are only related in so far that they wanted to / did make use of your photos?

  8. I don't think this was a bootleg. The cd inside was the original Sgt. Pepper. It's the box that was the novelty, since it featured my photos and my friend lynda's photos, which until then had been unpublished, not only on the cover but in a booklet inside, where some of them were blown-up almost to the size of an lp. i think paul's involvement with the project was providing the photos, but i might be wrong. i have all the faxes here. i don't think it was two projects. it was quite upsetting at the time.

  9. It`s got an entry in BZ (as a legitimate release) and indeed is the Pepper CD plus book. Released by UFO Records.
