Here is an interesting photo. Ringo is sitting with his son, Zak, in the Spring of 1978. At the time Zak was a student at Haileybury Junior School, which was a boarding school for boy in Windsor. Ringo had came to visit Zak at his school for "Speech Day" (Not sure what that is). The photo was taken by a fellow student at the school.
This is a really sweet picture. Ringo seems like he was a good dad to his children, considering the divorce situation.
ReplyDeletewell I took the photo of Zak and Ringo which you have found on Flickr. I was an assistant matron at Haileybury Junior school at the time. Speech day: an annual day on which prizes are presented, speeches are made by guest speakers etc. etc. -end of term celebration

ReplyDeleteHi, I was at Haileybury Junior School when Zak joined. We were in the same year and I remember that even to a bunch of 8 year olds, Zak was kind of exotic. We didn't really understand how famous his dad was. Zak introduced us to porn magazines. I still have a picture in my mind as I and a group of other boys gathered around him while he flicked the pages of the mag that he'd brought in. We were all well brought up middle class private school children and we'd never seen anything like it? Still makes me smile.

DeleteI was also at Haileybury Junior School in the same year as Zak’s brother Jason who also attended. The coolest memory I have is Zak and his band doing a gig at the school. Even then I thought what an amazing drummer he was and how much older and cooler he was than anyone else in the school. Although he’s barely 2 years older than me in reality. Like the other comments I didn’t really clock just how famous Zak’s Dad was at the time. Shame or probably quite helpful ! Delighted to have seen Zak play with The Who just last Summer at the O2 ! Finally. !!
