Carol Bedford wrote a book in the 1980's about her time waiting outside the studio and Beatles' homes called "Waiting for the Beatles." I have heard some pretty bad things about the book, but I would really like the opportunity to read it myself and see what I think. I actually enjoy reading trashy Beatles books (heck...I read Francie Schwartz book!) and have learned to take everything written in them with a grain of salt. However, this particular book is next to impossible to find! It really frustrates me. Does anyone know where I can purchase "Waiting for the Beatles" for under $75??? I am serious. I would really like to read it. Here is a photo I had in my files and just recently realized what it was. It is Carol Bedford with George in 1969 at Kinfauns.
I bought this book back when it came out after reading a favorable review in Goldmine record collectors magazine. It's a good book in my opinion with 296 pages and great pictures. I paid $9.95!
ReplyDeletei knew carol in the late 60's in london. in her book, she totally made up stories, mentioned many people's names without their permission and used people's photos (including one of mine) without their consent. i have it and i don't think this is a good book.

ReplyDeleteI knew Carol as i used to care for her as a nurse.
ReplyDeleteI used to spend hours with her and listened to her stories. Sadly i returned to my country here in Africa and I wish i could get a book but I also know that it was blacklisted.
Mostly I wish i could find out how she is doing today, 5 years later.
I think of her so often. Thank you for the picture posted. I have one more recent but Im afraid I cannot publish it.

DeleteGood news is that I finally found the book at Beatlefest for $60! It is on my bookshelf and I am looking at it right now.
