Beatles Now magazine covers

In the 1980's a neat little magazine came out called, Beatles Now. It was similar in size and glossiness to the Beatles Book Monthly. What I liked about it was that on several occassions the magazine cover was not a professional photo of the Beatles, but a fan photo. The first one of John (circa 1969) was taken by our good friend, Lizzie. (Hello Lizzie! I love this photo. Do you have a story to go with it?? I would really love to hear it!). And the second photo was taken in the early 1980's (I belive) by mega Paul fan, Jorie Gracen (visit her website http://www.maccareport.com/ and her book is called "I saw him Standing There.")

  1. hi sara! the top photo was taken by my italian friend mirella mariani (now giovanetti). i sent the photo and ended up getting the credit but i didn't take it. mirella took some amazing photos in 1969 which now belong to paul wane of tracks. let's hope he includes them in a book sometime soon like he did with my friends lynda and maureen's photos (the books are for sale in his website).

  2. Thanks for clearing that up for me, Lizzie. It is nice to know who really took that photo because it is a nice one. I just bought the Paul Tracks book (after year of planning on getting it). The photos your friend took are great! I look forward to more in that series.

  3. I wrote and helped Beatles Now in the eighties, from 1982 till 1986. The mag's office was in Walthamstow, London and the editor was a very nice fellow. I think I have all numbers issued. I had some "exclusives": an interview with Bob Wooler, the discovery of unissued till then radio takes and a peace forest in the memory of John Lennon that was about to be planted in Israel. Neither the peace nor the forest materialized.
