I have never been a big fan of Michael Jackson. I never owned Thriller or awaited his newest video on Mtv. However, I am 32 years old and there is no way that I could avoid MJ. There was a time when I was growing up where he was EVERYWHERE. I vividly remember going to a Michael Jackson themed dance at school. Everyone was trying to moonwalk. Funny stuff. Say Say Say is one of my all time favorite music videos. It was really the first video I remember seeing when I was a kid. It stands out in my mind for some reason. Since MJ was so big and the Beatles are so big, it was bound to happen that the 2 would somehow collide. And sure enough, Paul and Michael did some songs together and were friends for a while. Then Michael bought out the Beatles songs from Paul and the friendship came to a quick end. It was a wise business move for Michael Jackson, but a poor one in the means of friendship.

I was surprised to hear of his death yesterday. I was really surprised. I feel bad not only for his family but for his fans. As someone who tragically and unexpectedly lost their favorite musician 28 years ago, I can empathize. It feels like you lost a member of your family. Many people cannot understand the sadness that goes along with losing a famous person. But when you are a mega fan, like so many of us are of certain celebrities, they because an important person in your life. And so in memory of Michael Jackson and to try to bridge the gap between Beatles and MJ fans, I am posting these photos of a Beatle and Michael.
