John at the Dakota

I love John Lennon. I have loved him for 20 years and I will always love him. The saddest thing is that I was only 4 years old when he died and so I never had the chance to meet him. So instead I just live through those who had that amazing opportunity. John would occassionally stop and say hi to fans in the late 1970's and in 1980 while he was living in the Dakota. When I was at that famous building in New York City in 2000, I decided to not think about the awful thing that happened there, but instead focus on the good. And I thought of the fans standing outside and John coming down and signing an autograph or two and have a photo taken of him.

  1. On the first picture, I thought it was Sean ! What a striking resemblance ! Thank you very much for your blog.

  2. I always thought John looked similar to Julian in that first photo.

  3. Aw, Sara, you know, I actually get butterflies in my stomach when I walk by the Dakota......which I try to AVOID. I will actually go blocks out of my way to avoid the Dakota. I think I've been near the Dakota less the ten times my entire life....and I live in NYC! (I've never gone to "Ground Zero" either).

But what you wrote is really beautiful, about trying to not get hung up on what happened, and instead remember the good times and I'm going to try and keep that in mind next time I have to go by there. After all....that's the "John (and Yoko) Way".....project the positive, not get hung up on the negative.

    Still.....:(

(PS:I too was thinking he looked like Julian in that picture!)
