Tony Bramwell crosses Abbey Road

 

I wasn't going to post this photo because I didn't want to spread it any more than it already has. But then I was listening to the Beatles Channel on Sirrus XM this evening and heard Meg Griffin talking about this photo and how it is a photograph of Paul McCartney recently crossing Abbey Road. 

This is a beautiful photo, and I would love to know who the photographer was. But as I believed from the first time I saw it, this is NOT Paul McCartney. Jackie Spencer confirmed this when she discovered Tony Bramwell had posted this photo of himself crossing Abbey Road in 2019. So let me repeat that—this is a photograph of Tony Bramwell in 2019 and NOT a photo of Paul McCartney in 2024.   

While it is not Paul, I think it is great photo to remember Tony.   

In memory of Tony Bramwell

 

It is sad to hear of the death of Tony Bramwell today.   I knew he had been sick recently, but I thought he was on the mend.   Tony was a Liverpudlian who was originally an office boy with NEMS, so he knew the Beatles from the beginning.   He was there for many big Beatles events, including All You Need is Love, Sgt Pepper Recording sessions, and Penny Lane promo filming.  Tony seemed to be especially close to Paul and took great photographs during the "Dirty Weekend" in L.A. in 1968.  

Tony was a very outspoken Beatles insider who told it like he saw it, which was appreciated by fans.  He was someone who told his story many times in Beatles documentaries, and he wrote a book about his experience.   He had a strong presence on Facebook and his stories will be missed by Beatle fans everywhere.

Let's hear it for Eppy

These are the last photographs that I am aware of that show Brian Epstein with members of the Beatles.    I like these photos because Brian seems relaxed and happy around the guys.     I am sure he was proud of the Beatles during the recording of "All you need is love."  

Let it Be premiere

When Let it Be Premiere on May 20, 1970, the Beatles were officially broken up as a band.    However, fans still weren't sure if at least some of the band members would make an appearance.   Of course none of the Beatles came to see Let it Be on the big screen, but let's take a look back at who WAS at the premiere.

Every Day's a Holly Day

The first Buddy Holly party was quite a celebrity fest!    I spy the members of Wings, Eric Clapton and Pattie Boyd, Elton John,  and others that I am sure I am missing.   What a night!

Discovery in Penny Lane

The Beatles 1+ DVD has been amazing to watch.    I can't believe how clear everything looks.  And even more I can't believe that it has taken almost 50 years for this stuff to be cleaned up and released.  Why did we settle for such poor quality for so long?  In the clear up a small discovery has been made.   It seems that the "Mozart guys" are none other than Tony Bramwell and Mal Evans!    I had no idea!
