This is an uncomfortable topic to discuss, but I just posted this in the "Rules" section of the page and wanted to bring it to everyone's attention. Please don't come at me.
How much does it cost to be a member?
It is FREE to join in on the fun of Meet the Beatles...For Real! You do not have to pay any money at all if you do not want to. However, the suggested donation is $ 3 per year. You will see a button in the bottom left corner to donate using the site Ko-Fi.
You might ask: Why should I donate $3 a year? I pay an annual fee to keep this site running, and I also pay for access to newspapers and magazines from around the world, where I find interviews and stories that I share on this site. Because I believe in transparency, my job has been affected by government cuts in education, resulting in reduced work hours. I might need to cancel my subscriptions to the newspapers and magazines I subscribe to for this site, and as a last resort, I will have to cancel this site (it is paid until March 2026 currently) in order to make ends meet.
I chose $3 a year because in 1972, when the Official Beatles Fan Club ended, they were charging $2.50 a year for dues. And the fan clubs in the 1970s were charging right around $3 a year as well. Another way you can help out is by purchasing anything from Amazon through my affiliate link. I receive an extremely small percentage of every purchase (typically, I earn 30 cents per purchase, which adds up!).
I will also have other ways to help support the site in the near future. (photographs for sale and access to LM Notebook)
However, let me reiterate that you do not have to pay any money at all to enjoy this site! It is FREE!
Thank you, Beatle fans everywhere, for all of your support over the years!
Love, Sara (aka Starshyne)
The pleasure I get from my visits to this site is worth the donation fee.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteHow can I donate?
ReplyDeleteDo you see the green donate button in the corner?
DeleteSara: This is more than reasonable! It is obvious that you spend a lot of your own time and money making this a unique and informative site. I really appreciate it! And I will add that Teachers such as yourself deserve more support and appreciation as well!
