Meeting orphans

 I can tell by looking at what these girls are wearing that they play the part of the orphans in the musical Annie.  In the last scene of the musical, all of the orphans come to a Christmas party at the mansion, and Annie comes down the stairs in the famous red Annie dress.  All of her orphan friends are wearing the exact same dress, only in different colors. 

The girls frequently wear these costumes when they meet famous people after a performance:  Sam Davis Junior, Barbara Streisand, Henry Winkler, and apparently Linda and Paul McCartney.  I wonder if, after seeing the show and meeting the orphans, Mary McCartney was like most "little girls" (see what I did there?) during the time and desperately wanted to play the part of an orphan, too.  (Annie is one of my all-time favorite shows. I have seen it so many times, and I have been in community theater performances of it twice.)

You may have noticed that I haven't been updating this blog as much as I usually do. That is because I am currently playing the part of Mrs. Pugh, the maid, in my local community theatre production of Annie. I have been having dress rehearsals and 3 performances all last week. I have tonight off and then I am back at it again for another 6 performances. I barely have time to eat dinner each night after work before I have to rush off to get my costume on, so I will not have time for this blog again for another week. But then I will be back at it. Rest assured that I have been getting the emails some of you have sent me and I will be responding and commenting on them soon. Also be sure to email me if you have a story or photos to share or just to say hi and reassure me that real people are reading this blog.

I also want to point out that Annie is a MPL musical and Sir Paul is getting some money from my local theatre doing this show, which I personally find to be really cool.
