Beatles for Halloween

Some kids play the old Halloween classic party game, "Pin the nose on the pumpkin"  and there is a "Beatle" in the crowd!
Newer and Bluer Meanies have been spotted out trick or treating on Halloween

Pepper Days

No matter what generation Beatles fan you happen to be, you will agree that the Sgt. Pepper album was a breakthrough in the world of music.    It was a big change from Revolver and it was groundbreaking in so many ways.    It was the first album to have the words to the songs included with the record.   The Beatles and George Martin pushed the limits in using different instruments and microphones.

Fans around the world had a strong reaction to the album when it was released 50 years ago today.   Many fans honestly disliked it.    It was too much for them at that time.    They wanted to hear "yeah yeah yeah" and not the strange sounds coming from the album.    Many first generation fans who thought that way in 1967 grew to love Sgt. Pepper later in life.    They just didn't originally get it.   Other fans, however did get it.    They could relate to the songs, especially "She is Leaving Home."   It was the first time some people really started to take the Beatles past the "boy band" stage and as real musicians.

Let's take a time machine back to 1967 and enjoy some vintage photos of the beginning of the Summer of Love.

Ring out the old Ring in the new

I hope you all have a very nice New Years Eve tomorrow and ring in the New Year in a very happy way!    Now you might be wondering why I posted these vintage New Years Eve party photos from most likely 1964.   If you look in the background of the photos there are Beatles glasses on the shelves.    I would have made a toast out of them if I was there!

Happy new Year my friends!

Waiting in Edinburgh

The Beatles played in Edinburgh twice in 1964:  once in April and then once again in October.   I am not sure why these particular fans got the privilege of seeing the guys twice in one year.  I just know that it makes it extremely confusing for me to figure out the correct stories and photos to post for today.   I am not sure when these photos were taken, but they are just too cool not to share!    Fans camping out to get tickets to see the Beatles in Edinburgh.   I found these photos on the Edinburgh Gig Archive page.   I just love how the fans put up Beatles photos on the walls around them!

Beatle Besties

I love everything about this photo of two best friends bonding over the Beatles.   I love that one of the girls carries photos of the Beatles in her wallet and I love the buttons on the other girl's jacket.  And I especially love the smiles on their faces.   I do not know these fans, but I really do hope that they are still friends 50 years later.

Early Beatles Pilgrimage tour

I found this photo on ebay and I just LOVE it!   Do you think it was taken in 1969?   In the autumn after Abbey Road had been released?    I just think it is so awesome that fans started tracking down Abbey Road right away for photo opportunities.   I am sure these teenagers also walked across the zebra crossing.
