Swim and Sun

There aren't a whole lot of photos of the Beatles during their break from touring in 1965.   However there is a sequence of the Beatles swimming and laying around in the sun found on the Beatles' Anthology (disc 5) set.     I made some screen caps from the home movie footage.  It isn't great, but it is all we have!  It is well worth looking at again---I love seeing John and Mal splashing around.  

I HATE the yellow submarine animation in the sequence--but I couldn't leave this great shot of Mal out!

Fun and Sun in Miami

Julian plays near the pool

The Beatles all wet

While making the film, Help! in the Bahamas, The Beatles started off by filming the scene where they pop up in a swimming pool.  This scene was filmed 50 years ago today!    The people in the background, not paying any mind to the Beatles always kill me in these photos.

I scanned these photos from a scrapbook that I bought full of Beatles clippings.   The person who made this particular scrapbook layered her clippings.   I think this was from Valentine magazine.   We know that the photos were taken in the winter and not in the summer (February or March of 1963  I believe).    Ringo can't swim and that is why he is not in the water.    Some of these are slightly different than other photos.   The captions are from the magazine article.

Jersey Boys

Some photos of the boys when they were in Jersey in August of 1963 and were sunbathing and swimming while meeting some fortunate fans who were also holidaying in Jersey.   That is Ringo hiding under the towel.
