A little record shopping

Can you spot the Beatles album in this photo?    Anyone have that time machine ready and want to travel back and do a little record shopping with me?

Through a window

This is what some music stores had on display in their window in the spring of 1964.  Doesn't it look amazing??

Clean cut Beatle fan

Obviously not all Beatle boys went for the mop top hair style, although I bet before 1964, this young man had a different hairstyle than he does here a little over a year later.      I love how he is showing off his Beatle albums!

Fab club 1969

I found this photo on this flickr photostream  and was totally in love with the cuteness of these girls and their albums.   We have two Beatle fans one unknown and the the girl on the end who is holding the Hollies.       Photo is posted here with permission

Summer Holiday

Here is a photo I took off the screen during Freda Kelly's presentation at the Fest.   I am just as bad as the girls who took the photos off the T.V. screens and the movie screens.   I listened to a discussion for several minutes of the person who interviewed Freda trying to pinpoint the date of this photo.   I already knew the date (he was trying to make this 1962 and from Love me do...but then started looking at the Summer holiday poster and figured that movie came out in 1963...blah blah..someone should have just asked the audience if they knew!)  So anyhow, this photo was taken on January 24, 1963 at NEMS (not the regular NEMS but the smaller store).

Happy Christmas

I wanted to take a few moments out this busy weekend to wish each of you blog readers a very happy Christmas! I realize that Beatle fans from all around the world visit this blog, and not all of you celebrate Christmas, but I would think that regardless of what holiday you choose to celebrate, you can join me in wishing everyone the best of health and happiness in the new year.

A big thank you especially goes out to the hundreds of fans who have sent me email this past year with photos and stories to post. Please keep sending me things to include. I am starting to run out of new ideas for 2012. I also want to thank the fans who commented, including all members of the Apple Scruffs and Lizzie Bravo. Your insight to the photos have really made this blog what it is.

To continue your Christmas celebration, make sure to listen to the Beatle fan Christmas songs, Christmas with the Beatles, I want a Beatle for Christmas and All I want to Christmas is a Beatle (you can find a video of the last one on the facebook page for this blog).

May each of you decide that War is over in your life and may you receive many wonderful Beatles gifts under your tree tonight.

Love,
Sara S.

George Harrison signs albums

I wish he were signing one of those for me. I am getting so excited about the new George documentary. Let me share with you all something that is a little embarrassing to admit to anyone else but Beatle fans. I just called my cable company and ordered HBO. I am going to cancel after a month, but I have to see this George documentary the day it is available!

What is going on here?

Strange photo of some Beatle fans in the 1960's. I would guess that the photo was taken in early 1968 because the latest Beatles record shown is Magical Mystery Tour. I really have no clue what they are doing. Maybe putting on some sort of a skit for a talent show????

Influenced by the Beatles from the start

Here is a wonderful photo of a Beatle fan named Tom from when he was a young man just learning how to perform. I found this photo online, so I do not know Tom at all. I just really enjoyed this picture!

1965 Beatles fans

1965 Beatles fans, originally uploaded by Photos from the Vault.

Another photo of Beatle fans from the 1960's. The story behind it makes me chuckle!

August 25, 1965
Laura McNamara, and Cheryl Odom members of The San Luis Obispo Beatle Screamies, had precious tickets to the Hollywood Bowl concerts. Marilyn Wilcox and Joan Tregarthen won box seats in a radio contest and the opportunity to interview the band. Tensions in the Screamies over who got tickets and who didn’t lead the fan group to disband…five years before The Beatles made the same decision.

More Beatles with albums

With the Please Please me album in the background. I have a photo from this performance / photo session where the guys are holding the album. But it wasn't easy to find right now, so this one with do.

Paul with my favorite Beatles album, Rubber Soul in 1966.

Beatles publicity photos. Holding Please please me, Help, Beatles for Sale and A Hard Day's Night (all British versions)

Paul signs a copy of "Meet the Beatles" (I think it is the American version at least) for George's sister, Louise while on the train to Washington D.C.

John signs the Magical Mystery Tour EP for a fan at a party for fan club secretaries attended by George and John in December 1967. The fans that went could only have the MMT EP or the 1967 Christmas fan club flexi autographed.

Posing with the Sgt. Pepper album open at the release party

All four Beatles pose with the Sgt. Pepper album at the release party.

Brian holding a cover of "Yesterday and Today" (the Trunk cover version)

I am having too much fun now. After the last post, I decided to do a quick go through of all of my files and try to find more photos that aren't fan photos of Beatles with their albums. Don't ask..just go with it.

Beatles and their records

Paul signing Sgt. Pepper's

My favorite fan with Sgt. Pepper's opened and ready to be signed by Paul

A fan has the 45 of Strawberry Fields / Penny Lane for Paul to sign

John with Abbey Road

John signing Sgt. Pepper's

George signing the British version of Help!

George about to sign the Magical Mystery Tour EP

Ringo with the original Yellow Submarine album

Bare with me here. This is a re-run post. Sometimes I like having "themes" for my own fun. I am a Beatles nerd, so just skip this post if you aren't. I most likely have posted all of these photos before. But I thought it would be fun to go through my files and post all of the Beatles fan photos I have that show the Beatles albums in the Beatles hands (or a fans hand is good enough). Oh what fun this is!!!

Also I made up some rules for this game that I am playing. First of all it had to be a fan photo from the Beatles era (1962-1970). Second, it had to show an album with a recognizable cover. A Beatle holding an acetate or something shaped like a record doesn't count.
