George signed another item for the fan club

I love all of the photos from Pat (president of the George Harrison fan club) and her friends took when they met George in 1969. George was really kind to take a few mintues and sign so many items for the fan club and the girls. Here is yet another shot from that day that is new to me. I wonder how many photos are out there....

What a difference a year makes...

Here are two gorgeous photos of George taken a year apart by Pat Kizer. George's appearance sure did change over a years time!

Here is another shot in the "Pat at Kinfauns 1969" series. I actually did have this photo in my files, but the copy I had was watermarked and had the house cropped out and just focued on George. I think I like the photo better when you are able to see the colorful house.

Do you want to know a secret?

While on the plane to L.A. I re-read the book written by Pat Kinzer Mancuso called Do you want to know a Secret. It is a really good book and I think you all need to buy it! I won't go into the full story, but the gist is that Pat started the official George Harrison fan club from her home in Pennsylvania. After advertising in a Teen magazine, it grew to be a big fan club. In August 1968 Pat and some of her friends set out for London and met George Harrison! George was extremely kind to them and posed for photos, signed a bunch of things and chatted with the girls. To me it seemed like George really went above and beyond for them and they appreciated it. They came back a year later and had a shorter visit with George (those photos were posted in March so you can see them in the archives). Sadly all fan clubs were ended by George in 1972 and there is some controversy there regarding it. I do recommend Pat's book. She seems like a such a sweet, caring individual and someone I would like to call friend.

Pat Kinzer was the president of the George Harrison Fan Club. You can read all about her stories of meeting George in her book Do you want to know a secret . It is an awesome book!! I have heard Pat speak at Beatlefest in the past and she has some great stories about George to share. One of the times she met George was in August 1969. This was during a time where it was possible to go to Kinfauns (where George and Patti) lived and ring the doorbell and actually have a decent chance of meeting George!
