My Sweet Cameos

The brand new music video for "My Sweet Lord" has dropped and it is interesting.   I honestly don't get how the video fits with the song.   However, it is pretty fun to watch because there are all sorts of great cameos and Easter eggs.

Ringo Starr and Joe Walsh are in the movie theater, having popcorn and Ringo then throws popcorn on the guy that is looking for clues.   A few moments later, Weird Al is serving up some popcorn and Ringo comes by and shows how to drum with a flashlight until Joe drags Ringo back into the theater.

I also spotted Jeff Lynne, Olivia Harrison, Dhani Harrison and a few other people.

There were posters for "All Things Must Pass" in the movie theater and the items listed for sale behind Weird Al are actually the title of some of the songs on "All Things Must Pass."  You also see some of George's gnomes sitting in a few places.   I will have to watch again and see what other George Easter Eggs I spy.   The movie everyone is watching is something that we've seen in the "Living in the Material World" documentary, with George peeking out from behind the tulips.   I think it is longer than what we have previously seen.

I tried to take a few screen grabs to share, but go on Youtube and check it out for yourself.   I liked the video, but I don't like it for "My Sweet Lord."

Oliva and George Harrison

I had this listed as a photo from Ringo's wedding, but I am not so sure.   I think it is because the clothing seems to be the same, but I can't see the stripes on Olivia's outfit.

The reception

Apri 27, 1981 - - After Ringo and Barbara exchanged vows, they went to a nightclub in the Mayfair part of London called "Rags" for a reception.   Between 50-70 people were invited.   Besides George, Paul and their wives (and in Paul's case children - I guess the Harrison got a babysitter for Dhani), also at the wedding were Ringo's parents, Barb's parents, Barb'd children from her first husband,  Derek Taylor (and wife, Joan), Neil Aspinall (and his wife, Joan), Harry and Oona Nilsson, Hillary Gerrard, and makeup lady named Barbara Daley and a hair guy named Leonard.  Terry O'Neil took photographs.

Everyone left with a large solid star and of course, the wedding cake was also shaped like a star.

The biggest and most exciting news from the reception was that the "Threetles" (which they wouldn't be known as until the mid-1990s) were heard making music and some people even say that they heard "Beatles songs" (although which ones is unknown to me).   But from the photographs, we see that Paul played piano and George was on the guitar and Ringo seems to be playing some sort of make-shift drum and also a guitar.   Oh to have been a fly on the wall of the Rag nightclub on April 27, 1981!

Larry King and the Beatles

Larry King passed away over the weekend.  He was a well-respected man and his show on CNN was well-loved.   I personally did not care for his gruff way of talking to those he interviewed, but that didn't stop me from watching his show when he was talking to someone I was interested in.

The decade of the 2000s was Larry King's time to shine when it came to the Beatles.   He interviewed Paul and his then-wife, Heather Mills several times in the early 2000s.     They spoke about landmines and seals.

In 2007, Larry spoke with Paul, Ringo, Yoko, and Olivia about the one year anniversary of the Love show in Vegas and was there for the unveiling of the George and John portraits that are in the lobby. This is the famous interview when Larry called Ringo by the name of George.

Then in 2008, Ringo gave Larry a hard time for mentioning how old he was (68) on his birthday during a segment about saying peace and love at noon.

Prayers for Olivia

Olivia Harrison posted on Instagram today that she is currently in a London hospital with Covid-19.  Any more it seems like I know more people that have it/ had have it than have not.   It is such a terrible virus and takes so long to bounce back from.   I hate to hear that Olivia is in the hospital with it, but it sounds like she is getting a little better.   Let us all keep Olivia in our thoughts and prayers.    Peace to her.
