First time in the Netherlands....
So Paul is performing in the Netherlands and I am really excited for all of the fans there to see Paul on tour. Remember 51 years ago when he first played there?

Countdown to George
This photo and story was sent to me through email by Ed Dieckman. He took this photo when he met George Harrison on February 23, 1988 when George was on a television show in the Netherlands called "Countdown."

It was a thrill seeing a real Beatle in the flesh, I can tell you! After he'd taped his contribution to the show, a limo took him to Amsterdam - me and two friends followed the car and when the car pulled over at a gas station, the driver came up to ask us what we wanted (he'd already noticed he was being followed by us), so we said we just wanted some autographs, he took our items to the limo and sure enough everything came back nicely autographed. A pity I didn't get the chance to speak to him and thank him for the great music he'd given us through the years, but this was for me a historical day anyway.

Jimmie is left out
I always thought these photos were sort of symbolic of how this tour went. There are the three Beatles but Jimmie Nichol is off to the side separated from the group. And that is how it went---Jimmie was there and he was sort of part of the The Beatles, but he wasn't really in the band. Don't you think if Ringo was there, they would not have had him off to the side, but in the middle with the other three?

George in Copenhagen
I just thought this was a lovely photo of George in the hotel in Copenhagen. I wonder if he is pondering if he made the right choice going on with the tour without Ringo. George did not want to continue with the world tour without Ringo. He said it was like driving a car with three wheels.

The Fab 3.5 in Holland --- 50 years ago
It was 50 years ago today that John, Paul, George and Jimmie landed in the Netherlands for their Dutch performances and the beginning of their first world tour.

Quick Recover
Do you think these fans who made this sign ran out of room to make the "y" to make it say "Ringo quick recovery"? And they figured, oh....they know what we mean! I think seeing the Beatles on a boat like that would have been awesome! What a neat way to wave at the fans. Better than the cars in Japan. (remember Paul's story about the girls on the corners in Japan screaming?)

Paul in the Netherlands

Guus sent me these really great photos of Paul in the Netherlands taken in May 1989. It was a really exciting time to be a Beatle fan because in 1989 both Paul and Ringo were on tour for the first time in years and years! Paul was all over the television around the world promoting his album (Flowers in the Dirt) and tour. These photos were taken by a fan while he was being interviewed for a TV program.
