I have always loved the photos from Stella McCartney's fashion show in Paris in 1997.   The look of pride and joy on Linda's face says it all.   In the midst of her cancer treatments, she found pure happiness in seeing her daughter succeed.   What a treasure these photos must be for Stella.   I also love that Ringo and Barb were there to support Paul's daughter and that Barb is wearing a cat shirt.

Paul's Haircut Shocks the Barber

Old-style barber, Jack Turner nearly dropped his clippers when a customer demanded a short back and sides. 

For sitting in the chair was the owner of one of the world's most famous heads of hair - Paul McCartney. 

Jack, 59, said at his shop at St. Lenord's-on-sea, not far from McCartney's Sussex home. "I told him that I was not going to give the king of The Beatles a short back and sides.  Even when his wife Linda asked I still refuse.  In the end, we settled for a trim."

Afterwards, Linda sat in the chair with 4-year old son Jamie {sic} on her lap so that he could have his hair cut as well.

Jack said, "I asked Paul why he hadn't gone to a top salon.  

He said, "I don't want that.  I want a traditional hairdresser.  I don't want fuss or bother."

McCartney had waited his turn behind five other customers in the traditional salon.

Jack said, "He was absolutely charming and people were chatting to him. He was very down to earth."

McCartney, who is reported to earn £25 million a year, paid Jack £2.00 and a tip.  "We don't talk about that, do we,"  said Jack. 

A member of Paul's staff said of his visit to Jack's Barber Shop "I'm not surprised.  He likes to be treated as an ordinary person."

I was thinking about Ringo and Barb's wedding day was the first time Paul, George and Ringo were together after John's murder.   It must have been a bittersweet time -- happy for Ringo and Barb but grieving that John wasn't there with them.   But then I could not recall the last time that Paul, George and Ringo were together before Ringo's 1981 wedding.   Would it have been Pattie and Eric's wedding reception?  

Paul's waterfalls

 

In the late 1970s and 1980s Paul McCartney and his family lived in a circular house called "Waterfalls."   He has not been there since 2002 and while it is believed that he still owns the property, it has not been kept up.   People that go into abandoned places and take video and photographs have gone into Waterfalls and have taken some photographs of  this beautiful property.

I took this at Lympne Castle June 1979 , I had been in the Castle grounds for the last couple of hours with my pal Graham, we were the only two there! One bloke doing the security who let us in provided that we didn’t get in the way , couldn’t believe our luck, we had heard that they were up at the castle doing some filming, initially we tried to get in round the side and over the wall, I got onto Graham’s shoulders and scrambled onto the top only to see Linda in the courtyard who just said why don’t you just come in through the front gates!!

Beatle fam gathering

I love it when the Beatles family get together.  This weekend was a release party for a book I have been anxiously awaiting:  Linda's polaroid.   We all know that the McCartney family album has to be full of great photos that Linda snapped.   We finally get the chance to peek inside and see some of them.   The party was quite the Beatle family event.  Paul, Ringo, Barbara, Nancy, Olivia, Stella, Mary and James were all there as well as Twiggy and Chrissy Hynde.
