The Hotel in Rome

Roman fans

I love how in these European tour photos, we see the guys getting into Beatlemania more than what we see in photos from the U.K. or the U.S.   We know that guys were totally into the Beatles in 1965, but they weren't as likely to show it due to a variety of reasons.   However, in France and Italy we see guys who are totally into the Beatles.  See the one happy guy holding the Paul photograph? Or those group of fellows working up a sweat dancing to the Beatles?     I think it is great!

Roaming around

Some interesting shots taken of the crowds outside of the theater when the Beatles were playing in Rome.  Not very often you see two nuns outside of a Beatles concert.

The press in Rome

Being the John fan that I am----I personally find John to look extremely gorgeous in the photos of him from this time.   Something with that black shirt and smile and everything.  He just looks exceptionally good to me.   Any other John girls (or guys) agree?       Actually I think 1965 was a year where all four of the boys looked really healthy.   Shame John thought he was fat.

John, Brian and a girl

Before moving on with the 1965 European tour, I need to share this great photo Lizzie sent to me that was taken in Genova, Itlay by John Hayward.   Thanks Lizzie!  I love this one!

Arriving in Roma

There is some confusion with these photos.    Some claim that the Beatles left for Rome, Italy right after the concert in Genoa and others say that they didn't leave until the next day.    Since it is dark when the photos were taken, I would say that they were taken late on the 25th or super early on the 26th.    Now Alf Bicknell writes in his diary that the Beatles took a train to Rome.  However----look at the photos...they are obviously getting off of an airplane.    Do you see Alf in any of these photos?  Maybe HE took a train?   I don't know----but the Beatles arrived in Rome via airplane.  The photos are the proof.

Showtime in Genoa

Arriving in Genoa

Wow!  This seems like it was a pretty wild arrival to Genoa.   I know the Beatles took cars to get there--some sort of race car thing?    Really---when is the book on the Beatles 1965 European tour going to be written?

High chairs in Italy

The setup for this press conference always seemed like a strange one to me.    What is up with those high backed chairs?     July 25, 1965
