Paul and the Little Peppers
How cute are these kids? I have a strong dislike for dressing up in a Sgt Pepper suit, but even I have to admit that these kids are adorable!
Paul Surprises Fans in video
This is one of my favorite stories from 2019. Over in Columbus, Ohio ever December, for the past 10 years, they have a "Beatles Marathon." A group of musicians performs every single Beatles song in chronological order. I personally have never been to this event, but as with all Beatle events, I am sure it is a great time of celebrating the Beatles and their music with like-minded fans.
Last year one such fan, Amy, attended the event and thought it would be great if Paul or Ringo joined the festivities in 2019. (Yeah right -- we ALL think that about our Beatles events...Paul and/or Ringo should be there). Unlike you or me, Amy knew someone that knew someone and so she wrote a letter to Paul and invited him to come. Amazingly, that letter fell into the hands of Sir Paul himself and while he did not appear in person, he made a special video clip for everyone there and he started the marathon off by beginning to sing "Love Me Do!"
I think this is amazing because it proves that Paul knows that we have these fun Beatles events throughout the world where fans come together and celebrate the band's music. He understands how important the songs are to us and how much fun we have when we get together.
One of the great meetings with Ringo in 2019

On September 3, 1964 a teenage Beatle fan named Olivia was able to quickly give Ringo Starr a hug while The Beatles in Indianapolis during their American Tour.
I love this story from this year because it is so out of character for Ringo and yet he made one fan very happy. I think this is the best meet a Beatle for Real story of 2019 (or at least in the top 5)
Ringo Starr at the Ryman Auditorium on August 7, 2019, at the end of his show reads my, sign "You hugged me in 1964 in Indy, Again, Please" which I had unfurled onto the seat backs in the 1st row in front of me. He looked, said he couldn't see it well so I held it up, and to my utter astonishment said, "Okay, then, c'mon." And, with that, he gave me another hug, and I stole a kiss. Can you blame me! Love you and many thanks, Ringo Starr

Hey Grandude! - A Book Review
Are you looking for a great new book to get your kids or grandkids this year? Well, look no further than Hey Grandude! by Paul McCartney (illustrated by Kathryn Durst). This book has absolutely nothing to do with the Beatles or Paul, but it is such a cute, fun book that I think everyone that loves Paul should have it in their library.
The story is about a grandfather named Edward Marshall Sr and his four grandchildren Lucy, Tom, Em, and Bob. They call him Grandude and he calls them the Chillers. The basic idea of the book is that Grandude has postcards and a magic compass. On a rainy day, Grandude uses the magic compass and takes the Chillers on adventures to the places that are seen in the postcards. Something happens at each place that is exciting and keeps the story moving.
The illustrations by Kathryn Durst are adorable and really help with the story and the characters. Plus I think the drawing she did of Paul is so cute!
For those that are interested, the publisher claims that this book is for children in preschool-1st grade (ages 4-7). The average preschool - first grader will not be able to read this book alone. As a reading specialist, I would say Hey Grandude! is written at a 2nd grade (7-8 years old) level. The story is cute enough that any elementary school child would enjoy it. It would be a great book for an older child to read to a younger one. And it is also great for a Grandparent to read to Grandchildren.
I also have a great idea for teachers to use this book. Read it to your class and then have them design their own postcard and then write an adventure for them to go on with Grandude. This would be a great writing activity! I would do it myself, but I have to teach my canned program.
There is also an audio version of the book read by Paul McCartney. I haven't heard it yet, but I hope to hear it soon.

Inside the hottest party of the year
Quite a party was thrown on September 26, 2019! Inside Abbey Road Studios anyone who was important in the world of the Beatles was inside to hear the new release of Abbey Road. Family, friends and of course Paul, Ringo and Olivia were all there to celebrate 50 years of an amazing album.

Beatle fam gathering
I love it when the Beatles family get together. This weekend was a release party for a book I have been anxiously awaiting: Linda's polaroid. We all know that the McCartney family album has to be full of great photos that Linda snapped. We finally get the chance to peek inside and see some of them. The party was quite the Beatle family event. Paul, Ringo, Barbara, Nancy, Olivia, Stella, Mary and James were all there as well as Twiggy and Chrissy Hynde.

Hey Grandude!
I love these photos of Paul reading his new children's book to a group of kids -- I just wonder if those kids realize what a big deal it is that they are listening to Paul McCartney!
